Surge of spring listings
April 15th, 2024 BuyingSelling
With everyone coming out of winter hibernation, the spring market with the lighter, brighter days tend to be more appealing for property hunting than the cold of the winter or heat of the summer. The Spring months of March to May are the most consistent months for property sales year in, year out, and this year there has been some positive news regarding new listings.
New data from the UK’s biggest property website Rightmove reveals that new listings saw a significant rise with 45% more homes being added to the website towards the end of March. The increase was the largest influx of new sellers entering the market since the beginning of the year, marking it as the third most significant day since August 2020 for new listings.
Is spring a good time to sell?
There are traditionally more buyers in the spring months with this period tending to be the busiest typically due to the lighter nights meaning more viewing hours, gardens coming back to life, improved kerb appeal and buyers looking for a fresh start following the gloomier winter period.
Listing your property for sale in spring will also result in potential buyers hopefully completing and moving over the summer period, which is a popular time due to the improved weather.
Top tip: With the brighter days and spring bloom, remember to ensure your garden and outside areas look their best and keep outdoor spaces well maintained. Carrying out some improvements such as painting any fences, power-washing patios and planting a bit of colour can make a real difference to the outside look and kerb appeal.
